Statement regarding reports of abuse allegations at a Steiner school in Spain

06 May 2026

Waldorf UK is shocked and deeply distressed by the allegations of abuse reported in connection with a Steiner school in Spain. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the children and families affected by these deeply troubling reports. These are extremely serious allegations and it is essential that they are fully and properly investigated by the relevent authorities in Spain. The safeguarding and wellbeing of children are always and must always be our paramount concern.

Following significant challenges within parts of the UK Steiner Waldorf movement in 2019, schools in the UK undertook substantial reform and improvement work, particularly in relation to safeguarding, leadership, governance and educational standards.

An independent report from the University of Worcester published in September 2025 described the UK Steiner Waldorf school movement as having undergone “significant educational transformation”.

Steiner Waldorf schools in the UK are independently regulated and inspected and inspection reports describe schools as safe, caring and nurturing environments in which children are well supported and able to thrive.
